Bilateral Relations: MSWRR Union Minister receives Indian Ambassador

Union Minister for Social Walfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Thet Thet Khiaing received a delegation led by Indian Ambassador to Myanmar Mr.Vinay Kumar at the Ministry on 20th July.

During the meeting, the Ambassador clarified on the scholarship programs, providing the humanitarian assistance to the areas affected by cyclone MOCHA, repatriations of displaced persons and human trafficking issue, as well asthe projects being implemented under the MOU on development of Rakhine State and its contribution to the Rakhine state’s economy.

The Union Minister expressed words of thanks for India’s humanitarian assistance to the cyclone-affected people, saying that it support the victims to some extent. She then made discussions on the field trip made by the ERAT Team of AHA Center to the cyclone-affected areasin Rakhine State and provisions by the AHA centre.

The Union Minister also explained the plan to extablish a coordination mechanism to send the International assistance to the cyclone-affected areas as well as educative awareness ondanger of land mines, rehabilitation programs for drug addicts and human trafficking victims being conducted by the Ministry.
