BILATERAL RELATIONS: C-IN-C RECEIVES INDIAN CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF

Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received Indian Chief of Army Staff General MM Naravane, PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, ADC at Zayarthiri Beikman in Nay Pyi Taw.

The meeting on Monday afternoon focused on deep friendship between the two nations and between the two Tatmadaws and cooperation between the two Tatmadaws in making peace in the border areas, security measures, military training and other issues.

The Myanmar side also discussed matters related to the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, the Independent, Active and Non-aligned Foreign Policy, ASEAN policies and creating a better equipped Tatmadaw for Myanmar.

The two sides agreed that the main objective of Tatmadaws of all countries is to protect the country and the citizens; no Tatmadaw wants armed conflicts; so they will resolve various issues by peaceful means.

The two sides also discussed promotion of ties between the two sides, improving road communications in the border areas, and development matters, according to a statement of the Office of Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services.
