Bilateral Meeting: Efforts to combat online frauds

Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung received Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ms. Ma Jia, Chinese Deputy Minister for Public Seurity Mr. Liu Zhong Yi and delegation at the ministry in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday.

During the meeting, they discussed matters on promoting bilateral cooperation for security and rule of law, combating transnational crimes including online gambling and fraud cases and further strengthening of friendly relations. The meeting also focused on eradication of online frauds and gambling in Myawady area of Kayin State, prevention measures for online fraud cases, assistance being provided to the Chinese citizens, facing difficulties in Myanmar.

The meeting also address to take action against illegal immigrants and deportation process and to deport the illegal foreigners in Myawady, and also highlighted the arrest of those involved in online frauds and gambling in Shan State (North) as well as hand over of fugitives wanted in China.

The two sides also discussed the plans to organize China-Myanmar-Thailand Trilateral Meeting for effective measures in combating online frauds and gambling. They also exchanged views on existing cooperative works and future collaboration.
