Big Bad Wolf Book Sale: The World’s Biggest Book Sale Launches In Myanmar

Big Bad Wolf Book Sale launched its third destination at Fortune Plaza in Yangon, Thursday. The sale will run from 9:00 am to 12 midnight until 20th of this month. 

Today, I am here at the opening ceremony of Big Bad Wolf Books Sale which is held at Fortune Plaza in Thaketa Township. The sale is the 3rd edition in Myanmar and it opens to the public for 11 consecutive days from the 10th to the 20th of January.

The books sale runs daily from 9 am to 12 midnight with about over 1 million brand-new English books at a remarkable discount of 50% to 90% off recommended retail price and the admission to the Sale is free.

Director, Ready2Read (Myanmar) Co., Ltd., Myo Aung said “The sale aims to encourage people of all ages to read and get the English books with affordable prices. This year’s book sale brings many local books in cooperation with some Book Shops in Myanmar. A lot of Non-fiction and historical books were sold out in the last sales.”

Big Bad Wolf Sale was founded in 2009 in Malaysia and the Sale has toured across cities in Malaysia and abroad to Thailand, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Taiwan, South Korea, Pakistan, Myanmar and UAE.

The Big Bad Sale specializes in providing the widest selection of books at the lowest price. And it aims to encourage people of all ages to discover the joys of affordable and accessible reading. The Book Sale features a wide range of books across all genres, including fiction and non-fiction, young adult fiction, as well as an extensive collection of children’s books.

Visitor, Yan Linn Aung said “Today, I came here with my friends to buy my favorite books such as fiction and scientist fiction. Some brand-new fictions are not available in Myanmar. So, it’s a great opportunity to buy a large number of books at the same time in once place.”

The last sales in Myanmar including Mandalay attracted about 250,000 visitors and a lot of English books were sold out, it’s learnt. The big Bad Wolf Book Sale Yangon will continue its collaboration with ‘Save the Library’ where all donated books will benefit the public and school libraries.
