U.S. President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden took time out from their Christmas Day to address the nation's troops.

Speaking from the White House before a large screen showing representatives of the various armed forces, Biden thanked them for spending Christmas away from their families.

As the president spoke, the first lady petted the newest White House dog, a German Shepherd puppy named Commander. After the public address, Biden was to take questions from the troops.
