Biden: $20B to help Indonesia move to clean energy

Indonesia signed deals with international lenders and major nations on Tuesday under which it is to receive billions of dollars in funding to help the country increase its use of renewable energy. U.S. President Joe Biden announced the 20 billion USD agreement on Tuesday as he spoke to leaders at the G-20 summit.

The Just Energy Transition Partnership (JEPT), it is meant to help developing countries reduce their reliance on fossil fuels such as coal and gas which produce carbon emissions that contribute to climate change. As part of the agreement, Indonesia has pledged to ensure emissions from the country’s power sector begin falling by 2030.
