A 36-member Emergency Medical Team from the Royal Government of Bhutan, led by Dasho Tashi Wangyal, departed for Bhutan on Friday as the second batch of the team’s return. They were seen off at Nay Pyi Taw Airport by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Disaster Management Committee.

The Bhutanese medical team consisted of 87 members in total, and among them, 51 members had already returned to Bhutan on April 17 as the first batch.

The Bhutanese medical team had been working together with military medical personnel as well as the professors, doctors, nurses, and healthcare staff from the Ministry of Health at the temporary field hospital opened at Paung Laung Sports Ground in Nay Pyi Taw Pyinmana. From April 3 to 16, they provided medical check-ups, treatments, and surgeries to the earthquake-affected people.
