Hailing the 79th anniversary Armed Forces Day, Thanutpin downtown bridge along Bago-Thanutpin-Khayan-Thanlyin Road was commissioned into service on Saturday. The bridge is strategically located on the road that connects to Thilawa Special Economic Zone. The former bridge was a one-lane bailey bridge, and it is being upgraded to two-lane facility reinforced concrete bridge.

The new facility could reduce traffic congestion, contributing to swift flow of commodity and socio-economic development. The regional government allotted over 3.7 billion kyats for the newly constructed bridge which is 240 ft long and 28 ft wide with 6 ft wide pedestrian lanes on each side.
