Berlin prepares to welcome Charles on first visit as king

Berlin's iconic Brandenburg Gate was closed off to visitors on Wednesday, with a heavy police presence ahead of King Charles' first visit as reigning monarch of United Kingdom.

The trip starts Wednesday in Berlin, where German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will welcome Charles and Camilla, the queen consort, at the historic Brandenburg Gate. The king is scheduled to give a speech to the Bundestag, Germany’s parliament, on Thursday.
