Bart De Wever was sworn in as Belgium’s new prime minister on Monday, following the completion of a coalition agreement that shifts the country’s political direction to the right. The deal, which was finalized late Friday after seven months of intense negotiations, makes De Wever the first nationalist from Dutch-speaking Flanders to assume the office.

The 54-year-old, took the oath of office before King Philippe at the Royal Palace in Brussels, alongside 14 members of his newly formed cabinet. This marks a notable shift in Belgium’s political landscape. Immediately following the ceremony, De Wever was set to attend an EU leaders' meeting nearby to discuss defense and transatlantic relations.
