Beef prices rose by about 30 percent in Argentina in the last two weeks generating grave concerns among the population, known for its meat consumption and weekend barbeques.

Meat closed in 2022 with a yearly 42 percent increase, relatively low compared with the rest of the economy, which hit a 95 percent inflation record, the highest cost of living rise since 1991. Soaring grain prices and droughts are just a few factors behind the rising cost of meat in Argentina. The country registered the second-highest inflation in Latin America behind Venezuela.
