Bay of Bengal condition: A low pressure area formed over Southeast Bay of Bengal

According to the observations at (1:30) PM M.S.T on Monday, a low pressure area may form over the Southeast Bay of Bengal around 8th May, 2023.

It is likely to intensify into a Depression around 9th May, 2023 then continue to move northwards and intensify into a Cyclonic Storm over the Central Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Andaman Sea around 10th May, 2023.

According to the Numerical Weather Prediction, Cyclonic Storm may reach near Deltaic Area and Rakhine coast and frequently squall with rough to very rough seas will be experienced in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, and off and along Rakhine Coasts.

Surface wind speed in squall may reach (80-90) mph from 9th to 14th May 2023. Currently, the storm has not yet started to form, so the track of the storm forecasts are varying based on the observation times, data and model.

The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology will continue to issue the forecasts in time.
