Banking Sector: CBM holds meeting with Thai banks

Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar (CBM) Daw Than Than Swe held a meeting with officials from Siam Commercial Bank, Bangkok Bank, Kasikorn Bank and Krung Thai Bank at the meeting hall of the Yangon branch of the Central Bank of Myanmar.

This meeting focused on further investment of Thailand in Myanmar, foreign currency banking services between Myanmar and Thailand, CBM’s established policies to stabilize the foreign exchange rate, remittances of trade and Myanmar migrant workers to be diverted from legal channels instead of using illegal Hundis, facilitation of smooth delivery of the wages, provision of financial support (pre-shipment export financing and post-shipment export financing) to further develop trade between Thailand and Myanmar, foreign exchange rates and the facilitation of foreign currency transfers between the two countries.
