Banking Sector: 52nd ACU Board of Directors meeting

Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar Daw Than Than Swe attended the 52nd Asian Central Banks Clearinghouse (ACU) Board of Directors meeting held in Dhaka of Bangladesh via video conferencing.

The ACU member countries of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Iran, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka as well as representatives from Maldives and Belarus attended the meeting.

This meeting focused on matters including the ACU’s activities and progress in the 2022-2023 financial year, payment systems studied by the ACU Committee of Expertise, conditions affecting the ACU payment system through interconnection, the use of local currencies in the ACU payment system, ACU Central Bank digital currency implementation issues and ACU Message Delivery System Implementation.

The 53rd ACU Board of Directors Meeting will be hosted by Myanmar in 2025 and the Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar took over the role of the alternate chairperson of the ACU Board of Directors.
