Banking Expert Program: Global Banking Expert Program From August 24 To September 22

Global Banking Expert Program began on Saturday at UMFCCI in Yangon with 65 personnel from banking industry.

The Global Banking Expert Program is the very first program designed by UMFCCI (Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry) and KOMYRA  (Korea-Myanmar Research Association) to expand the global capabilities of Myanmar financial experts. KOMYRA was founded in 2013 with the purpose to expand the cooperation between Myanmar and Korea through education. It consists of professors, researchers, corporate executives and government officials.  

Vice President, Korea-Myanmar Research Association, Prof. Dr. Yongjun Choi said “Today’s event intends to promote the capacity building of the staff from banking industry. We, KOMYRA, signed MoU with UMFCCI last year and this program will last for four weeks. We are going to discuss and share experiences on currency, trading and banking among the attendees and experts. As human resource development is extremely important, education and training are literally needed for the country’s development.”

The instructors of the program are made up of the best experts in each subject who have been in the field for 10-20 years. Chairman of KOMYRA expressed that the finance plays an important role in improving the economy.

President, Korea-Myanmar Research Association, Prof. Dr. Kang Shinwon said “We assume that development of Myanmar requires help from banking and finance industries. As Myanmar develops, more financial systems and capabilities will be required. This program is to contribute to the development of Myanmar’s financial capacity by sharing Korea’s experiences with Myanmar, thereby promoting mutual development between Korea and Myanmar.”

The program covers international finance, global trade business and accounting, SME policy and finance, credit analysis and rating process, Global International Financial Reporting Standards and Bank for International Settlements and Korea EC development process.

Secretary General, UMFCCI, Aung Kyi Soe said “We can especially learn banking not only with theory but also with the case by case study from Korean banking experts. 65 participants from operation level of banking industry join this program. Banking industry development in the country is a good sign for private sector. Plans are underway to conduct program for management level too.”

The program is conducted for two days a week; Saturday and Sunday from the 24th of August to the 22nd of September.
