


Bank Indonesia (BI) officially launched the Quick Response Indonesian Standard (QRIS) cross-border service with Japan on Monday.
With QRIS now available, Indonesians visiting Japan including Osaka can make digital transactions more seamlessly. The service has already been implemented at several tenants in the Indonesia Pavilion in Osaka. From restaurants to shopping centers, payments can now be completed conveniently with just a smartphone.
The official launch of QRIS in Japan was first held on 17 August 2025. BI now aims to expand its usage further, enhancing cross-border financial connectivity and facilitating transactions for citizens of both countries.
