Bangkok dispatched a first mobile COVID-19 vaccination unit Wednesday to support its campaign in communities in need around the Thai capital.

The mobile unit, converted from an old bus, will travel to serve Bangkok residents with mobility issues and those with tough family work schedules. Health officials said it also helps reduce crowds at vaccination centers in town.

Residents insert their national ID cards to pull up their health records on the bus' computer system linked to the national vaccination database. Bangkok's vaccination rate is steadily growing with more than 90% of people having received the first dose and 22% have received the second dose.
