






For the development of MSME enterprise in Yangon Region, the Small Scale Industries Department SSID (Yangon North District) is making surveys from villages and towns to issue business license officially and to provide necessary technical assistance to those who are operating MSME businesses.
The SSID also conducted a field trip to the small scale Bamboo Hat Making business in U Aung Zeya Ward in Oakkan Township for the development of the Small Scale businesses.
Assistant Director, Ye ZawTun, SSID (Yangon North District) said "According to the small scale industries law of our department, we issue business licenses to small scale businesses which are running with under 9 employees and over 3 employees. Businessmen who get license issued by our department, will benefit income tax exemption that is not more than 15 million kyats of annual net profit during three consecutive years including the year when their businesses start to operate. Besides, they have a chance to showcase and sell their products at the small scale industries product fairs and competitions."
Bamboo hats are being made according to the market demand because they are mostly useful for locals from rural areas.
Than Than Htay, Bamboo Hats Making Business Owner said "I have started to run my own business since I was married and it have been over 40 years. We got raw materials from bamboo flat sheets and bamboo stems to make perfect bamboo hats. We store bamboo raw materials for 1 year. Currently, bamboo hats are sent to Pyay, Tharyarwaddy and sometimes to Pyin Oo Lwin. We have various sizes and designs of bamboo hats and send to the market as the received orders."
The SSID is planning to provide technical assistance for the long-term use of bamboo products. Likewise, the department also provides assistance to the businessmen who want to apply business licenses.
