





The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture is drafting the Bagan Hotel Strategy in order to ensure the long term sustainability of the ancient cultural heritage in the Archaeological Zone. A work coordination meeting on the finalization of the Bagan Hotel Strategy was held at the Bagan Archaeological Museum on Thursday.
Deputy Minister Daw Nu Mra Zan attended the meeting and discussed that the Bagan area, which currently experiencing a low number of visitors, is usually packed with tourists in hotels and guesthouses. She stressed the importance of finalizing the Bagan Hotel Strategy, highlighting the location of some hotels that have been built in the archaeological zone since before the nomination for World Heritage List.
The Ministry of Hotels and Tourism and the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture jointly conducted a field visit to collect hotel-related information. She urged all to discuss the work undertakings to be implemented by the relevant departments and organizations in the process of finalizing the Bagan Hotel Strategy.
The attendees discussed the formation of groups for management of the Bagan World Heritage Site, progress of drafting the Hotel Strategy, issuance of licenses for hotels and guesthouses.
