Back Home: President returns from official visits to Russia and Belarus

President U Min Aung Hlaing arrived back in Myanmar on Sunday, after paying official visits to Russia and Belarus aimed at strengthening bilateral and strategic cooperation.

The delegation was welcomed at the Nay Pyi Taw Airport by senior government officials and officials from the Russian Embassy in Myanmar. During his visit to Russia, President U Min Aung Hlaing met with President Vladimir Putin in Moscow to discuss bilateral relations, energy, trade, investment and regional issues. He also attended the 2026 Russia-Myanmar Business Forum, where he encouraged greater Russian investment in agriculture, energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, science and technology.

The President also met with officials from Russia's Roscosmos to discuss satellite technology, Earth observation, search-and-rescue systems and astronaut training. He also received an honorary professorship from G.V. Plekhanov Russian University of Economics and discussed education and human-resource development.

In Belarus, President U Min Aung Hlaing met with President Alexander Lukashenko and Prime Minister Alexander Turchin and discussed expanding cooperation in agriculture, livestock, trade and investment. He also attended the Myanmar-Belarus Business Forum, where opportunities in agricultural machinery, fertilizers, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, infrastructure and technology were highlighted. The delegation also visited Grodno Azot, one of Belarus's major fertilizer producers, to explore potential cooperation in fertilizer supplies and industrial production.
