Ayeyarwady dolphins: Dolphin conservation works along Ayeyarwady River

Sagaing Region Fishery Department has been conducting the dolphin conservation works constantly to protect these endangered aqua species.

Aquatic mammal Ayeyarwady dolphins are the species under the threat to extinct. They give birth to one baby at a time. In Myanmar, there are about 70 Ayeyarwady dolphins.

Dolphins inhibit in river is rare existence that we have to pay special attention, Director of Sagaing Region Fishery Department, said.

And then the fishing net is also dangerous to the dolphins. Dolphins were killed after getting entangled in fishing nets and by hitting with fishing gears or hooks. "
