Awareness Seminar: Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights

An ‘Awareness Seminar for the Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights’ was held at the Judicial College of the Supreme Court of the Union in a hybrid system on Saturday.

Union Chief Justice U Tha Htay attended the event and delivered his opening address. A total of six judges and judicial officers, including four officers from the Supreme Court of the Union, two judges from the Kyauktada District Court and the Bago Township Court, presented and discussed a variety of topics including Trademark Protection in Myanmar, Criminal Litigation regarding with Trademark in Myanmar,  Protection of Well-known Trademark, Protection  of Online Copyright Infringement in Myanmar,  Monetary Relief for Copyright Infringements, and Comparative Study of Damages Resulting from Trademark Infringement: Focusing on Statutory Damages, which are related to the enforcement of intellectual property rights.

The seminar aims to disseminate knowledge to the judges and judicial officers who are to adjudicate Intellectual Property (IP) Rights related cases under Strategy 4.8 of the National IP Strategic Plan of the IP Central Committee, to conduct training to the judges and judicial officers concerned for preventing and combating the IP Rights infringement under Strategy 6 of the Plan; and to organize knowledge sharing program related to IP Laws under Strategic Objective 5.2 of the Judicial Strategic Plan of the Supreme Court of the Union.
