




An awareness program on the distribution of educative pamphlets to reduce plastic use was conducted at the Aye Mya Kyilin market in Kyaukse, Mandalay region. To reduce the use of plastics and disposable materials, the public awareness was conducted under the Sunday Talks program.
Under the program, the Development Committee and the Environment Conservation Department are working together to implement the 6 goals including in the Myanmar's National Waste Management Strategy and Action Plan for addressing waste management issues.
Aung Kyaw Hein, Deputy Director, Kyaukse Township Development Committee said "We conduct awareness program on reducing the use of plastic bags and the danger of plastic wastes to marketeers and people at the Aye Mya Kyilin market in Kyaukse by cooperating two departments. We also widely educated marketeers to use paper bags, banana and red timber tree (In) leaves as well as systematic throwing of plastic wastes."
The staffs participated in the activity also distributed paper bags, banana leaves and red timber tree leaves to replace in the use of plastic bags and educative pamphlets and also hung vinyl posters on systematic management of plastic wastes.
