


An Awareness Course on UN Conventions and Special Laws Related to Human Trafficking was held at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday.
Union Minister Dr Thet Thet Khaing attended the opening ceremony and made a speech, saying that human trafficking is a huge violation of human rights that cannot accept in the community. 70% of human trafficking victims are women and children. Myanmar has signed the international conventions and agreements relating to human rights, and cooperation has been made with the concerned departments and organizations.
The Union Minister stressed the needs to understand the rights for human trafficking victims, basic principles and the provisions described in the conventions.
She urged the trainees to apply the knowledge, gained from the training effectively. 55 trainees from the Department of Rehabilitation, Myanmar Women Affairs Federation and Myanmar Maternal and Child Welfare Association are attending the 3-day training from 25th to 27th August.
