Awarding Ceremony: Winners awarded for Buddhology Exams

Young Men's Buddhist Association -YMBA (Central) on Friday held a ceremony to award the winners of 75th anniversary Diamond Jubilee 38 Blessings of Mingala Sutta and Buddhist History Exams.

The ceremony was attended by Acting President and Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission Senior General Min Aung Hlaing in his capacity as the Lifelong Patron of YMBA.

On his arrival, the Acting President and party visited the documentary photo booth of the association. The awarding ceremony then commenced by reciting Namotasa three times, followed by saluting the state flag and song performance by silver medal winner at the 26th Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition.

In his speech, the Acting President praised the efforts of the association for flourishing and promotion of the nationalism, religion, sasana and education since its establishment in 1906.

He highlighted that today's global landscape has been prioritizing the nationalism rather than the political affairs of others, emphasizing the need to have genuine nationalism for achieving multiple benefits of the nation.

He added that the association has been organizing the 38 Blessings of Mingala Sutta and Buddhist History Exams since 1949, and this year marks the 75th anniversary Diamond Jubilee event, organizing the exams in Mon and PaO languages in addition to Myanmar language.

He urged all to include more ethnic languages in the coming years, and called for cooperation of all entire people in an effort for building the nation.

During the event, the masonry hand tool, that was used in the foundation laying of the association on 4th April 1952 was handed over to be displayed at the Defence Services Museum.

After the performance by the PaO and Mon cultural troupes, awards were presented to the winners at the different categories of the exams. The ceremony ended with the recitation of 38 Blessings of Mingala Sutta and Zartiman song.
