












Award Presenting Ceremony of National Lifetime Award for Literary Achievement, National Literary Award, and Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Award for 2022 took place on Wednesday at the Myanmar International Convention Centre II (MICC-II) in Nay Pyi Taw with the attendance of the Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla.
First, the Senior General and party viewed around the display of the biographies, photos and books of the award winners at the ground floor of the MICC-II. At the ceremony, the Senior General and party enjoyed the stage performance of the MRTV’s staff and screening of a video clip in honour of the award presenting ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, the Senior General stressed that Myanmar literature has been strongly existing in Myanmar history and contributing for the benefit of the nation and its people. Throughout the history of Myanmar literature, the literary works of numerous literati were the power of the Union in strengthing union spirit and patriotism and encourging people to value the Myanmar literature and to cope with the complexities of life.
He added that according to the National Literary Award Selection Committee, both fiction and nonfiction literary works of the national literary award and sarpay beikkaman award winners greatly portray the morden technologies and science with the modern point of views and thinkings.
In presenting National Lifetime Award for Literary Achievement, the number of award winners are increased to be able to honor more of veteran literati. He reiterated that the government is making concerted efforts to ensure peace and stability of the nation. It’s necessary to improve the education and moralty of the people, especially in rural areas, in developing the nation. He pointed out that tasks are being implemented to develop the comprehensive education system and to promote the eradication of illiteracy.
Therefore, the publishers, libraries, litearti, writers and well-wishers are encouraged to participate in raising the reading habit of the people by by facilitating increased access to books. Then, Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife presented medals, cash of honor and honorary awards to National Lifetime Award for Literary Achievement winners veteran literati Dr. Tun Tint (Dr. Tun Tint- Myanmarsar), Dr. Chit San (Chit San Win), Daw Khin Than Win (Kyu Kyu Thin), and Secretary of Than Oo Foundation U Aye Kyaing on behalf of Dr. Than Oo (Pyay Soe Min).
Then, Joint Secretary of the State Administration Council Lt-General Ye Win Oo, Council members General Mya Tun Oo, Admiral Tin Aung San, General Maung Maung Aye, Lt-General Yar Pyae, Lt-General Nyo Saw, Union Ministers U Win Shein and U Maung Maung Ohn presented awards to national literary award and sarpay beikkaman award winners respectively.
Then, National Lifetime Award for Literary Achievement winner Dr. Tun Tint- Myanmarsar expressed words of gratitude and a gratitude message sent by National Lifetime Award for Literary Achievement winner Dr. Than Oo (Pyay Soe Min) was read out. After the ceremony, Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife and party had lunch together with the award winners.
