Australian faces Singapore court over bottle death

A court hearing will resume Friday at the Singapore State Courts for an Australian national accused of killing an elderly man in 2019 after a wine bottle that he threw from a condominium balcony hit the man on a lower floor.
According to media reports, 47-year-old Andrew Gosling allegedly threw a glass wine bottle from the seventh floor of a condominium building in August 2019. The bottle hit 73-year-old NasiariSuree who was reportedly attending a relative's housewarming party on the fifth floor of the same building.Nasiari was unconscious when he was taken to hospital that evening, and died from his injuries the next morning.Media reports said that Gosling was initially charged with causing the death of Nasiari by a rash act.
The charge was later upgraded to causing grievous hurt with an instrument likely to cause death. If convicted, he could be jailed up to 15 years and fined or caned.
