Australian airline posts record profit

Australian national carrier Qantas has posted a record 1.4 billion Australian dollars profit in the six months to December, the company's chief executive announced on Thursday. 

Alan Joyce said that the Sydney-based airliner was back in profit following 7 billion Australian dollars in losses during three years of the COVID-19 pandemic. Joyce said one of the drivers for the company's rebound was "robust" travel demand, despite high interest rates and inflation.
