AU agrees to intensify efforts on Sudan cease-fire, aid

The African Union, in collaboration with the United Nations and IGAD, announced a new concerted effort to de-escalate the ongoing conflict in Sudan on Tuesday.

African Union Commission's Chairperson spokesperson announced that Union had "agreed on the necessity to intensify, collectively and individually, all our effort to reach, as soon as possible, a complete and conditional, efficient, inclusive ceasefire all over Sudan.”

The Union also intends to "intensify the effort" to deliver humanitarian support to the population still inside Sudanese cities and all the borders of all neighboring countries.  The battle for control of Sudan erupted on April 15, after months of escalating tensions between the military, and a rival paramilitary group.
