To attract more visitors: 11 tourism destinations identified in Myanmar this year

11 tourism destinations in Yangon, Mandalay, Bagan, Ngwe Saung, Chaungtha, Ngapali, Pyin Oo Lwin, Inle, Kalaw, Taunggyi, Nay Pyi Taw and Kawthoung are identified as the tourism attraction sites in Myanmar this year for domestic and foreign visitors.

Arrangements have been made to visit more tourists from China, Russia and India. For tourism industry development, the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism is cooperating with relevant ministries and private travel agencies by drafting action plans.

Myo Myo Than ,Director ,Directorate of Hotels and Tourism said " To promote tourism industry, the Ministry is taking part in the international travel expos and uploading website and web portal in 10 languages. Myanmar has potential markets in tourism so that we intend to attract more visitors from China, Russia and India. The existing travel destinations, potential and new destinations and tourism attraction sites are being exposed and promoted. 11 destinations are identified this year for visitors. "

As for domestic travelling, there were about 3.1 million visitors in 2022 and more than 6.3 million from January to August 2023. For the foreign tourists, there were over 100,000 tourists from January to August 2022 and more than 700,000 tourists in the same period of this year. Footage
