Attack in Kantbalu: SAC Information Team Leader responds the query

Concerning the incident in Pazigyi Village of Kantbalu Township of Sagaing Region, Leader of the Information Team of the State Administration Council Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun responded the query raised by the media on 11th April. The news has been spread on social media that Tatmadaw launched an air strike to the village while the PDF terrorist group was holding a ceremony there. The Maj-Gen said the incident happened at around 8:00 am on the 11th while the so-call PDF was holding an event to open the office of People’s Defence Force.

Leader, SAC Information Team, Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun, said "According to the ground information, this incident happened not only by our attack, there are mines planted by PDF in that area. There is also a warehouse which stored explosive items. The weapon was dropped directly on that place, and the explosion resulted the casualties. The PDF terrorists are committing the war crime. They used to destroy the village which do not support them. They also threaten them. They use the monasteries and schools in the village as their defence post. They threaten the villagers to attend the event they organize including women and children. Due to the attack to the warehouse, there might be casualties to those who attended the event by force."

The Maj-Gen also said that it is needed to understand the background situation of Pazigyi Village in Kantbalu. The village administration council chairman was killed by the PDF in March. They also threatened the whole village to become members of the PDF, and forced them to attend the events organized by the PDF. The so-call CRPH also made instigation on formation of People’s Defence Force or People’s Administrative Organization. Tatmadaw is carrying out for achieving stability in the area.
