ASSISTANCE AND DONATIONS: VOLUNTEERS IN MEIKHTILA CALLED FOR MORE CONTRIBUTIONS

People in Meikhtila Township of Mandalay Region are now calling for more kind donations for the COVID-19 positive and suspected patients as the number continues growing every day.

According to the local society organizations and volunteer groups, food boxes, water bottles, and food items were donated for the COVID-19 patients, healthcare workers and medical staffs from Meikhtila General Hospital and quarantine center at the Meikhtila University.

These assistance has been made every day with the contribution of the kind donors and society organizations and volunteer groups.

Volunteer, U Kyaw said "With the contributions of the kind donors, we arranged and transported the meal boxes, water bottles and food items for the COVID-19 positive patients at the Meikhtila General Hospital, healthcare workers, medical staffs, red cross members, and volunteers as well as those who quarantined at the Meikhtila University and other treatment center in the township every day."

As the number of the COVID-19 patients increased each day, they are now facing difficulties in need of more donors to provide for the patients, the volunteers said.

Volunteer, U Kyaw said "Generally, we transported food items for about 120 people. But as the numbers of the patients have increased, we now at least need foods for about 180 people.
We now would like to urge the kind donors to donate more to fill the gaps that we need. And we would like to thanks to the donors for their kind contributions. "

According to the reports of the Ministry of Health and Sports, over 2,600 persons under investigation at the hospitals, and over 2,900 persons, quarantined at the facility quarantine sites in Mandalay Region.
