Assistance for affected people: Relief aid continues to be delivered by military aircrafts

Relief aid and food stuff donated by families of Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) and well-wishers and relief items provided by the National Disaster Management Committee are being delivered by Tatmadaw aircrafts, helicopters and vessels to the locals affected by natural disasters in Rakhine State because of the Very Severe Cyclonic Storm “MOCHA” on the bay of Bengal.

On 17 May, biscuit packets donated by families of Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) were sent to Sittway Airport via Nay Pyi Taw Airport for the first time and 400 bags of rations for the 2nd time, 2.5 tons of rice and ration and rescue teams were dispatched from Nay Pyi Taw airport to Sittway airport for the 3rd time.

Similarly, in order to carry out rescue measures in disaster-hit areas, 418 rescue members including members of special rescue teams under Myanmar Fire Brigade Headquarter and fire service members from Bago, Yangon and Ayeyawady Regions were dispatched to Sittway airport in groups from Mingaladon airport in Yangon and they have been sent by Tatmadaw aircrafts for 5times.

As transporting relief aid by Tatmadaw aircrafts on Wednesday,3 times have been sent to Sittway from Nay Pyi Taw and 5 times have been sent from Yangon to Sittway and measures are underway to continue to deliver relief aid. Officials accepted the aid arrived by Tatmawdaw aircrafts and will deliver to relevant departments.
