Fisheries officers from various countries in the Asia-Pacific region have gathered in Nha Trang City, Viet Nam to take part in an intensive training program on Monitoring, Control, and Surveillance (MCS) in the fisheries sector. The course, organized by Nha Trang University, aims to enhance regional capacity in combating Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) Fishing. Collecting samples for fish DNA analysis.

This is a method that allows authorities to identify species and assess whether illegal fishing activities may have occurred. Over the past three years, an estimated 110 fisheries officers have been trained. Participants have come from eight ASEAN coastal countries. This effort not only promotes international cooperation but also underscores Vietnam’s commitment and leadership in advancing sustainable global fisheries.
