ASEAN Health Ministers Meeting: Myanmar delegation participates in the meeting in Vientiane

Laos is hosting the 16th ASEAN Health Ministers Meeting and its related meetings from August 8th to 10th in its capital city, Vientiane.

On August 8th, the Myanmar delegation, led by Union Minister Dr. Thet Khaing Win, attended a work coordination meeting to assess the ASEAN health sector and designate priorities for the post-2025 health development agenda.

During the meeting, the Union Minister emphasized the need for cooperative efforts in monitoring and controlling communicable diseases while promoting a healthy lifestyle through improved health care services.

The Union Minister also participated in a work coordination meeting on further collaboration between ASEAN and the World Health Organization (WHO) in the health care sector. He highlighted Myanmar’s efforts in COVID-19 control, supported by partner countries and the cooperation of citizens.

With government’s support, the Ministry successfully progressed in the COVID-19 vaccination process. The Union Minister expressed gratitude for the support from WHO, UNICEF, and GAVI and pledged to continue collaboration in the future.
