ASEAN Community Vision 2045: Myanmar delegation attends the 20th HLTF-ACV

The 20th Meeting of High-Level Task Force on ASEAN Community Vision 2045 (20th HLTF-ACV) was held in Kuala Lumpur of Malaysia from 21st to 23rd January.

A Myanmar delegation led by Dr. Wah Wah Maung, Emi­nent Person (EP) of Myanmar for the High-Level Task Force on ASEAN Community Vision 2045 and Deputy Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations attended the meeting.

Drafting sessions of the High-Level Representatives were also held on the sideline of the meeting and concluded the fifth reading with 99 percentage of completion of the draft ASEAN Political and Security Community Strategic Plan.

At the meeting, the HLTF-ACV had an Interface Meeting with the Chair of the High-Level Task Force on ASEAN Economic Integration, Co-Chairs of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Development of ASCC Strategic Plan and Chair of the ASEAN Connectivity Coordinating Committee.

The respective pillars have updated their progress in developing their respective strategic plans. The Meeting exchanged views on the development of the respective strategic plans, timeline for submission of the Strategic Plans and identifying Key Performance Indicators to monitor the implementation of the Strategic Plans.

Moreover, the meeting exchanged views with regard to the Institutional Strengthening-related Strategic Measures and cross-cutting issues. The meeting also discussed the Draft Kuala Lumpur Declaration on ASEAN Community Vision (ACV) 2045, APSC Strategic Plan, ASEAN Secretariat paper on cross-pillar issues, ASEAN Secretariat paper on Institutional Strengthening, Communication Plan for ACV 2045 and Monitoring Tools.

During the 20th HLTF-ACV Meeting, the Deputy Minister highlighted that the discussions on the development of strategic plans for the other pillars in implementing the ASEAN Community Roadmap 2045 have provided clarity for the HLTF-ACV’s work.

The Deputy Minister further emphasized the importance of completing their relevant domestic procedures of the ASEAN Member States to ensure the timely approval of the ASEAN Community Roadmap 2045 and its attendant documents.

She also highlighted the critical role of both qualitative and quantitative data in monitoring the implementation of the strategies outlined in the roadmap. The upcoming 21st HLTF-ACV Meeting is scheduled in Manila, and will look into further discussion of the Strategic Plans of the ASEAN Community Pillars.
