ASEAN Community’s Post-2025 Vision: 13th Meeting of High-Level Task Force held in Vientiane

Myanmar delegation led by U Lwin Oo, Alternate Eminent Person of Myanmar and Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs attended the 13th Meeting of High-Level Task Force on ASEAN Community’s Post-2025 Vision (HLTF-ACV) which was held in Vientiane, Lao PDR from 27th to 29th February.

High-Level Representative Drafting Session was held prior to the 13th Meeting of HLTF-ACV. At the meeting, the Deputy Minister shared view on the placement of the elements of Institutional Strengthening-related Strategic Measures, format and methodology of the development of the APSC Strategic Plan and suggested to consider the placement of the cross-cutting action lines in consultation with the Co-Chairs of High-Level Task Force on ASEAN Economic Integration (HLTF-EI), Senior Officials Committee for the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (SOCA).

He also highlighted the importance of continuous engagement with stakeholders, especially youth, women organisation, business community and academia to learn about their aspiration and suggestion for better future of ASEAN. The Meeting exchanged views on the three recommendations submitted by High-Level Representative Drafting Session and provided guidance to conduct a drafting session via online to complete the first reading of the draft APSC Strategic Plan prior to the 14thMeeting of the High-Level Task Force on ASEAN Community’s Post-2025 Vision in order to expedite the drafting process.

At the sideline of the Meeting, Deputy Minister had separate meetings with Mr. AlounkeoKittikhoun, Special Envoy of the ASEAN Chair on Myanmar and Mr. PhoxayKhaykhamphithoune, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR on the 28th and discussed Myanmar’s cooperation with ASEAN and bilateral cooperation between Myanmar and Lao PDR on areas of mutual interest.
