



Myanmar delegation led by Deputy Minister for Education Dr. Zaw Myint attended the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Ensuring Equal Access to Quality Early Childhood Development and Care under the theme of “Building Climate Resilience from the Start: Early Childhood Education for Sustainable Future” in Vientiane of Lao People's Democratic Republic on 15th of May.
At the meeting, Minister for Education and Sports of Lao PDR,Dr. PhoutSimmalavong and ASEAN Secretary General H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn delivered opening speeches. It was followed by a group photo session and speeches of the ASEAN delegations. During his speech, the Deputy Minister highlighted the importance of early childhood development and care.
He said that it’s necessary to educate the youths about climate change and natural disaster since their early childhood to build the climate resilience in them to be able to respond effectively when they encounter with natural disasters in future. He added that it’s necessary to use different practical methods in educating the children about climate change, environmental conservation and natural disaster prevention as per their age such as tellings tories, encouraging them to participate in group activities and taking them on trip to parks and gardens where they can keep in touch with the nature.
He elaborated that the reliable qualified citizens will be emerged by educating the youths to vaule the natural environment, raising their environmental awareness and sharing knowledge within ASEAN region. Then, Vientiane Agreement on Ensuring Equal Access to Quality Early Childhood Development an Care within the ASEAN community was declared.
