Arrest and Seizure: Authorities arrest members of Terrorist Group in Yangon

Authorities arrested members of a terrorist group for committing destructive acts in Yangon Region. On December 24th, the Administrator of Hone LanButar Ward in Sanchaung Township was injured by gunshots fired by the terrorists while he was at the office on Pan Hlaing Road.

With the collaboration of the public, security forces arrested two culprits on the same day at their house in Innsein Township, along with a pistol, five bullets, and a Fielder taxi which they used during the incident.

The interrogation led to the further arrest of a culprit in YaytwinKone Village, Htantapin Township, and the seizure of a pistol, 14 bullets, and a grenade.

Additionally, another culprit was arrested on the 25th in Hlaingthaya (East) Township, along with a pistol, two magazines, 33 bullets, and two smoke bombs. According to the investigation, these culprits are members of the Free Land Attack Force (FLA), which consists of about 15 members. The group leader, the suspect at large, is Nay MyoNwe, who resides in Mae Sot, Thailand. The terrorist acts are being carried out under the manipulation of the group leader.

The investigation also revealed that these culprits were involved in the bomb attacks on the Tamwe Township Electric Engineering Office and the Development Affairs Administrator Office in November and December of this year.

Additionally, they were involved in three incidents of time bomb attacks at the Innsein Electric Power Office, the Tamwe Township Development Affairs Administrator Office, and a remote mine attack at the Mindhamma Traffic Light in Manyangon Township during 2023.
