


A fire on a gas production platform off the coast of Mexico injured six workers on Friday,says Pemex workers union. The incident occurred at a facility in the Gulf of Mexico operated by the oil giant.
A total of 328 people were working at the site, most of whom have been evacuated.Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador told reporters earlier that firefighters and naval personnel had been deployed following an explosion on the platform.
In August 2021, a fire on a platform during maintenance work left several people dead.Rising oil prices helped Pemex to make its first annual profit in a decade last year.The group lost around $23 billion in 2020 as the coronavirus pandemic hammered demand for energy.
