A military helicopter in Ecuador dropped hundreds of fake bills over the violence-stricken city of Guayaquil, each bearing a government phone number aimed at encouraging citizens to report criminals. Some passersby rushed to pick them up, thinking they were real money, according to the media on the scene. The fake bills resembled $100 notes and featured red lettering with the messages: "Rewards for information" and "Call 131 toll-free."
