
One of the suspects involved in an armed robbery in Mandalay was arrested on June 18th. The incident occurred on June 13th at about 5:20 P.M. Two men targeted gold entrepreneur U Win Aung as he was heading home from his gold shop in Aung Myay Thar San Township.
The robbers, riding a black CZI-type motorcycle, followed U Win Aung along 12th Street. They shot him and stole his gold items. Tragically, U Win Aung died from his injuries while being transported to Mandalay People’s Hospital for treatment.
The case has been opened under Section 54 of the Anti-Terrorism Act at the No.4 Police Station. Security forces have been gathering information day and night to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. Thanks to the cooperation of responsible individuals in the Mandalay Region, one of the two suspects, Kan Paing @ Ko Phyo @ Pyae Phyo Aung, aged 38, was arrested. He was found in possession of gold and jewelry in Udaung Village of Madaya at 6:15 P.M. on June 18th.
During his testimony, the arrested suspect revealed that he had conspired with Ko Maung, a member of the so-called PDF, due to financial difficulties. They had agreed to murder U Win Aung and steal his gold items. The prompt efforts of security forces, in collaboration with civilians, led to the suspect's arrest within five days of the incident. Further efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining two suspects, Ko Maung and Minglarpar, who are also members of the PDF.
