Police officers stopped their demonstrations after the Buenos Aires' province governor announced a pay rise for thousands of police officers on Thursday. A day earlier the provincial authorities and the national government faced demonstrations by thousands of police officers. The largest gatherings in the country, with some 90,000 officers, took place in the official residences of the Buenos Aires governor and Argentine president.

President Alberto Fernandez urged the police on Wednesday night to stop their protest, pledging to redistribute taxes to police pay cheques. The police complaint came a few days after Fernández announced an anti-crime plan for the towns near Buenos Aires which involves the deployment of thousands of troops and funding for some 480 million dollars.
