Argentina celebrates Lunar New Year

Hundreds celebrated the Lunar New Year in Buenos Aires' Chinese neighborhood on Sunday. A parade of dragons danced through the crowds while spectators tried to touch them in order to be blessed with good luck for the rest of the year.

Chinese pop singer Along, one of the regular entertainers, paid tribute to the Argentine World Cup champions by performing with a plastic replica of the trophy. For Mercedes Barbara, the city's General Director for Foreign Communities, the success of this celebration is a consequence of the "year-long economic, social and cultural interaction" between the Chinese community and the city. This celebrations mark the start of the Year of the Rabbit.
