Apiculture Development: Beekeeping business and livestock breeding research

Aiming to expand beehives in sunflower plantations and to increase foreign income through apiculture, Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr. Aung Gyi presided over a meeting with the private beekeepers at Apiculture Development Office in Pyawbwe Township, Mandalay Region on 4th October.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Minister made discussions on apiculture and honey production development, condition of private and public beekeeping enterprises and potential honey export market to increase foreign income. He also instructed on conducting apiculture related training courses, acceleration of bee-friendly plantations and disease prevention measures.

The attendees presented reports on requisite assistance in expanding beekeeping businesses and the Deputy Minister coordinated requirements. After the meeting, the Deputy Minister inspected the livestock breeding research center and heard reports on ongoing research processes within 2025-2026 Fiscal Year.

Subsequently, the Deputy Minister proceeded to Ayethayar Village and Kin Tar Village, inspected livestock breeding farms, dairy production and animal feed production enterprises, instructed on development of private livestock breeding sector, market availability and systematic breeding and disease control measures.
