




Police and Japan’s Coast Guard are strengthening security in Yokohama’s Minato Mirai district ahead of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD), set to run from Wednesday for three days.
On Monday, more than 30 police officers and Coast Guard divers inspected waters near the venue for suspicious objects, while sniffer dogs checked for explosives under structures such as vending machines. Authorities warned of possible traffic restrictions and urged visitors to use public transport. The conference will gather VIPs and large numbers of participants from Japan and abroad.
