The Peruvian attorney general filed a constitutional complaint against the president, Pedro Castillo, before parliament last October.

It is the first time the country's public prosecutor's office has brought charges against a sitting president before parliament. The attorney general, Patricia Benavides, claims that Castillo has allegedly committed crimes of criminal organization and corruption.
