Anti-Corruption Issues: Union Minister addresses discussion in Nay Pyi Taw

Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi addressed an anti-corruption talks on Monday at the Mani Yadana Jade Hall in Nay Pyi Taw.

In his address, the Union Minister said the talks is to help the Ministry’s employees to understand the negative effects of corruption and the provisions of the Anti-Corruption Law and the criminal penalties. Corruption affects the development of the country.

The Ministry has formed Corruption Prevention units (CPU) and is working to reduce and eliminate corruption.The Union Minister also urged attendees to share anti-corruption knowledge gained from this event. Also, Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission said that the commission considers anti-corruption as a national responsibility.

Corruption is a prioritization of self-interest. Employees who are appointed to serve the public interest should strive to be good civil servants who are free from corruption, the Chairman added. And, discussions were made on investigative matters, nature of corruption, corruption prevention issues and the Anti-Corruption Law.
