Anti-Corruption: ACC Held Press Conference In Nay Pyi Taw

The Anti-Corruption Commission has received 10,543 complaint letters in 2018, and out of these complaints, 75 percent were on civil servants and 18 percent on public servants, the Commission Chief Inspector U Thant Zaw at a press conference, held in Nay Pyi Taw on Saturday.

The Chief Inspector added that public servants include village/ward level administrative heads to people that had political rights. He pointed out that it was to be understood that more actions were taken against civil servants because there was more complaints made toward them. Complaints received by the commission were preliminarily judged by a group consisting of six commission members.

He explained that decision on conducting further investigation was made by the majority consensus of the group members and only on complaints that had important evidences and proofs. The press was held concerning the matter of oppressing public servants and forcing to sign acknowledgement.
