




The opening ceremony of 2022 annual review meeting on AIDS/STD control programme was held on Thursday at the Ministry of Health with the attendance of Union Minister for Health Dr. Thet Khaing Win.
Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister stressed that HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment measures are being carried out according to the 5 priority strategies of the National Strategic Plans (2021-2025) on HIV/AIDS for the emergence of the society which is free from HIV infection in 2030.
For the sufficiency of ART and medical equipment within the nation, the government is providing yearly increment of fund. For (2022-2023) fiscal Year, a total of 16 million USD are allocated to purchase ART and necessary medical equipment.
The Union Minister encouraged to create the society which is free from HIV infection in 2030 according to the tactics set by the Global Health Sector with the collaboration of the public and the Ministry of Health by fulfilling the objectives such as providing the basic medical service which is accessible to all, reducing the death rate caused by HIV/AIDS and eliminating the discriminations toward HIV/AIDS patients. It was followed by the sector-wise discussions on the HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment measures and monitoring work undertakings by the attendees. The meeting will be held for 2 days, it’s learnt.
